Where Two Worlds Meet: A Story of Connection and Healing

Hello! I’m Parul, and I’m so glad you’re here. My story begins in the bustling streets of New Delhi, India, where I was born and raised, and continues here in beautiful Prince George, British Columbia where I now call home. I gratefully acknowledge that I live and practice on the unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, a reminder of the deep connections that bind us all to place and community.

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist

My path to therapy wasn’t a straight line—and honestly, the best stories never are. It started with a Master’s in Psychology back in India, followed by two eye-opening years as a counselor. Those early experiences taught me so much about the universal nature of human struggles, but also sparked an insatiable curiosity about different approaches to healing.

In 2014, I took a leap of faith and moved to Canada. It was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating! I dove into my Master’s in Clinical Social Work at UBC’s Okanagan Campus, where I discovered how beautifully different therapeutic traditions could complement each other. Living between two cultures has been one of my greatest teachers—it’s shown me that there are many ways to heal, many ways to find home, and many ways to be whole.

What Fuels My Soul

When I’m not in session with clients, you’ll likely find me outdoors, soaking up everything British Columbia has to offer. There’s something magical about hiking through ancient forests that puts everything into perspective. Summer is my favorite season—I become a bit obsessed with paddleboarding (there’s nothing quite like the peace of being on the water at sunrise) and camping under those incredible starry skies we’re blessed with here.

I’m also a bit of a foodie, though I prefer to call myself a “nourishment enthusiast.” I love experimenting in the kitchen, creating meals that feed both body and soul, then gathering my favorite people around the table to share stories and laughter. Some of my happiest moments happen in those kitchen conversations that stretch long into the evening.

Travel continues to teach me about the beautiful diversity of human experience. I’ve been fortunate to explore five countries so far, each one adding layers to my understanding of what it means to be human. And here’s a fun tidbit: I can understand four different languages, though I’ll admit I’m only truly fluent in two. Languages fascinate me because they’re like windows into different ways of seeing the world.

Some fun insights…

I also hold a deep interest in self-awareness tools that help people understand themselves more fully. If you resonate with astrology or personality frameworks, here’s a bit about how I see myself through those lenses:

🌞 Virgo Sun (Western Astrology) – My Sun sign is the essence of who I am—my core identity. My approach is practical and detail-oriented. I am committed to understanding the complexities of each client’s situation through careful listening and thoughtful assessment. I maintain high standards for my practice and am constantly seeking to refine my skills. My focus is on identifying concrete pathways toward meaningful change.

🌙 Libra Moon (Western Astrology) – I am naturally attuned to balance, fairness, and relational dynamics. I value creating an equitable therapeutic space and am sensitive to how my clients experience our relationship. I work to honor multiple perspectives and strive to meet each person where they are, recognizing that healing often emerges through compassionate understanding and mutual respect.

⬆️ Scorpio Rising (Western Astrology) – I present as thoughtful and observant, with a natural ability to perceive nuance and depth in conversations. My demeanor is calm and grounded, which helps create a safe, contained space for clients. While I maintain appropriate professional boundaries, I bring genuine presence and attentiveness to our work together.

🧭 ISFP-T (The Adventurer) – I’m introspective, sensitive, and deeply values-driven. I find beauty in simplicity and connection, and I bring gentle curiosity and presence into every space I hold.

The Daily Practices That Ground Me

I believe deeply in practicing what I preach. Every morning, you’ll find me starting with prayer and meditation—these quiet moments center me and remind me of the sacred nature of the work we do together. I weave positive affirmations throughout my day, and my yoga practice keeps me connected to my body and breath.

These aren’t just nice-to-haves for me; they’re essential. They remind me daily of what I know to be true: we all have an incredible capacity for growth, healing, and transformation. Sometimes we just need someone to sit with us while we remember that truth.

Why I Do This Work

At the heart of everything I do is a deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit. I’ve witnessed it in my own life, in the lives of my clients, and in the stories shared across cultures and continents. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, working through old wounds, or simply feeling stuck, I believe there’s always a path forward—and I’d be honored to walk beside you as you discover yours.

Every healing journey begins with a single step. If you’re ready to take yours, I’m here to support you along the way.
